Cabinet Cards, the Actress and Beauty edition (part 2)
Newsboy (plug tobacco) cards of Annie Sumerville, Mary Anderson, Fanny Ward and the Duchess of Lienster, 1880s - 1890s

Quite risqué for the day. Annie Sumerville — or Somerville, or Summerville, or Sommerville — was a burlesque stage star. Card is numbered 9 in lefthand corner.

Mary Anderson (1859 - 1940). Wiki bio here and less juicy bio here— she had a (mostly) great career and retired at the age of 30, having collapsed on stage due to nervous exhaustion. Card is numbered 7 on lefthand side.

Fannie Ward, 1872 - 1952. A baby-faced beauty, wiki bio here. Card is numbered 832 in righthand corner.

Duchess of Leinster (1864 - 1895), an English society beauty who married a Duke. More here. Card numbered 550 in righthand corner.

Cabinet Cards, the Actress edition
Maud Branscombe, Annie Pixley, Margaret Mather, Mlle. Rhea. 1880s, 1890s

Anderson cabinet card of Margaret Mather (1859-1898), a Canadian stage actress, also known as Margaret Bloomer. She had a turbulent life and died onstage.

Autographed (on the back) Anderson cabinet card of stage actress Annie Pixley (1858–93), who died, apparently, of brain fever. See screenshots of the NYT obituary in 1893, below.

Mora cabinet card of Maud Branscombe, a world beauty of the day. Read more about her here.

Tintypes

One of my favorite kinds of photography.

There are 14 here, the two largest on top, and 2 in sleeves.

Look at his beard, the way he's holding his right hand up, and the stiffness of that amazing dress she's wearing. This one has hand tinting on the cheeks.

She's wearing pince nez and such a fetching hat. Tinted lips and cheeks. Love this one.

More tinted cheeks and a slightly wild expression. Folded, working hands on a rustic chair.

Love these outdoor group portraits, everyone in their Sunday picnic clothes.

Great hats on this couple.

A formal portrait, her arm resting on his shoulder, he's tilted slightly towards her.

And she looks quite young.

Souvenir tintype from a summer's day, July 6 1890.

Amazing lace collar, remarkable hair. Tinted cheeks.

My other favorite: he's got a velvet collar, a wise expression, looks quite old. And a fine, fine top hat.

Muttonchops.

Ringlets, a lace collar, tinted cheeks, a smart face.

One of the two larger ones: a boy standing next to his hat. Tinted cheeks, amazing socks.

The other larger one. A mother holding a fussy baby, her attention entirely on her child.
